Source stream running down a steep slope viewed from the bridge on Glover Road that crosses the Durham Freeway (NC 147)

The fall zone has steep slopes in the headwaters of watersheds. In the Triassic Basin, the topography soon levels out to the rolling terrain interrupted by meandering streams and wetlands. The top of this hill is within sight of downtown Durham.
