Northeast Creek Streamwatch used Martin Luther King Day 2016 to clean the brush from the farmhouse foundations, exposing the cold cellar and showing the general shape of the house. Note the jog in the foundations where the thin pine trees are inside the foundation. This indicates a later addition because of a change in the materials used. Note that the cold cellar only occupies a part of the area underneath the house and the stone wall that defines it beyond the chimney. Note the concrete block foundation of the front porch, indicating that it was likely added later and hinting at the possibility of an earlier wooden porch. Note that there are stovepipe collars for the cold cellar and the top of the first floor, possibly indicating initial construction for use of wood as a fuel. The support for a fuel tank is a concrete block construction, which seems to indicate a later phase than initial construction.
